Monokai Obsidian Theme

A very minimal theme (with a customisable logo) that hides the GUI away until you hover over it.

3. Usage

3.1. Steps:

  1. Open up the monokai.css file for this theme.
  2. At the VERY bottom is the CUSTOM SVG ICON CSS rule.
  3. You can see the background-image: url("data:image/svg+xml;base64,[DATA] rule.
  4. You can replace this with your own SVG logo. A good tool to use is https://svgencode.com that will give you the ready-to-go CSS rule with base64 encoding straight away.
  5. Save the file and potentially restart obsidian.

Comments(3)

  • 1

    HTML characters not visible

In Light mode the note's background is almost white. HTML characters, such as <, </, etc., are not visible when they are in focus. Please amend the color a bit.

  • 2

    Cmd+O selection not clearly marked

When you use the Cmd?Ctrl+O to choose another note, you get a pop-up box with a list of titles. When you move down that list with the cursor, each title should be highlighted in turn. That does not happen or the highlight is too vague, both in Dark and Light mode.

Selecting text in code block does not stand out

When you select some text inside a code block, such as for copying, it is very hard to see the selection, the highlight needs to show better contrast, like it does with normal text. This applies to Dark and Light mode because in both cases the background of the code block is black.
